Conference about mental health and gender issues at the workplace (2 Dec 2016)

The beginning of December in Barcelona was marked by a Conference on the mental health and gender issues at the workplace. The Conference was held at the Auditori Biblioteca Jaume Fuster, and was organized by Grup de Treball i Recerca en Dona i Salut Mental of the Societat Catalana de Psiquiatria i Salut Mental (http://webs.academia.cat/societats/psiquia/index.php) and the Académia de Ciéncies Médiques de Catalunya i Baleares (ACMCiB www.academia.cat).

Among others, the Conferences’ goal was to analyse the relation between family life, health and workplace in a framework based on the sexual division of labour. Furthermore the aim was also to examine the interaction between paid work, the household sphere and family life as well as intersection between gender and social class and the types of welfare states. Ms Gigi Guizzo from CEPS Projectes Socials took part in the debate about the impact of the gender-based violence at the workplace. She talked about the involvement of companies with workers who suffer violence from current or ex partners. This was an occasion to present the research, material and training produced through the #USVreact and #CARVEdaphne projects.
