On April 27, 2015 Poland ratified the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women, and Domestic Violence (Istanbul Convention). By depositing the ratification instrument at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, the country became the 18th member of the Council of Europe to ratify the Istanbul Convention, which came into force in August 2014.
