#DIMPAproject – Digital Innovative Media Publishing for All

European Union is facing a huge digital skills challenge. According to a factsheet released in September 2017 by the European Commision (“A Digital Europe needs Digital Skills”) only 56% of Europeans aged from 16 to 75 have at least basic digital skills. However, digital skills are today as important as being able to read or write in order to remain employable in a more and more digitalized working place. They are used and expected in more than 90% of jobs, in every professional sector. 38% of companies report that the lack of digital skills impact their performance.

One big trend of the digitalization of the labor market, that impacts all sectors, is the massive publishing of multimedia digital contents, gradually replacing traditional printed documents or opening the door to new kinds of publication. Mobile devices and the massive expansion of social networks have incredibly fostered new ways of producing and publishing enhanced content: augmented reality, virtual reality, 360° video, enriched publications are conquering our screens, our cultural and professional practices and thus revolutionizing the way we produce and consult content. However, if professionals come into almost daily contact with these new forms of enriched content in their professional and personal lives, few of them know their specificity, their means of production, their cost, their use…. These new technologies are often perceived as complex, expensive and reserved for specialists and often cause reluctance or even anxiety when we are asked to use or implement them within a company. The lack of knowledge of easy-to-use creation tools increase the gap between “specialists” or “geeks” and the whole of professionals. Moreover, while the demand for training in these new tools is growing, the VET offer is still fragmented or reserved for certain sectors of activity.

In order to tackle this issue, we intend to create the first European MOOC on the practices and tools of 6 main technologies involved in enhanced contents publishing and dissemination: EPUB 3, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Video 360°, Interactive Video and augmented printed materials. In addition, the partners intends to pay a special attention to the inclusiveness of the material produced during the project.

The DIMPA project intends to address 3 priorities : 1) the project aims at developing digital learning materials and tools under the form of Open Educational Resources to support and enhance the effective use of digital technologies and open pedagogies in training and tackling the horizontal priority: Open education and innovative practices in a digital era. 2) the project aims at developing relevant and high-quality skills and competences, in that case digital skills for the management and publishing of enhanced digital contents, in order to foster employability and socio-educational / personal development. 3) the project aims at further strengthening key competence (improving the digital skills and knowledge) in continuing VET and enhancing access to this training and qualifications for all learners, including the ones with Specific Learning Disorders.

The DIMPA project is co-funded by the European Union’s ERASMUS+ programme, and implemented from November 2018 to October 2020 by 6 partners: Formation 3.0 (FR), Logopsycom (BE), L’Apprimerie (FR), CEPS (SP), BFI OOEE and AKETH (GR).
